Savannah. Charleston. New Orleans. San Antonio. These colonial-era cities inspire the courtyard garden ideal: green and lush, with beautiful plants, pools and fountains, paved with stone, tiles or bricks, & protected by sheltering walls with gates that reveal a table and chairs for cocktails or an al fresco meal...

NOLA in Baton Rouge

This New Orleans-style courtyard is in Baton Rouge. It was designed by attorney and designer Ty Larkins. It has elements of classic symmetry, but unlike New Orleans courtyards, this one is scrubbed, whitewashed, and bleached, for a more serene look. I would love to see how it has matured while sipping a cocktail and listening to the fountain. You may see the rest of his house at Cote de Texas. If you would like to contact Ty Larkins, e-mail him here.
